Dr. Lawhorne is a professor at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. He was founding chair of the Department of Geriatrics and served as chair from 2006 to 2017. Prior to coming to Wright State, he was Professor of Family Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and Director of the Geriatric Education Center of Michigan. Dr. Lawhorne served as president of the American Medical Directors Association in 1997-1998 and directed its Long Term Care Research Network from 2000 to 2006. He received his medical degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville and completed residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dr. Lawhorne is board certified in family medicine and geriatrics.
