Michael W. Konstan, MD

Dr. Konstan is Professor of Pediatrics and of Population & Quantitative Health Sciences at CWRU School of Medicine (SOM), where he serves as Co-director of Clinical and Translational Science Institute, and directs the Institute’s Community Health Programs. Dr. Konstan has led multiple local and statewide health improvement initiatives, including the Greater Cleveland Health Neighborhood, a consortium focused on improving healthcare access for underserved populations; and First Year Cleveland, tasked with reducing infant mortality in Cuyahoga County.

Dr. Konstan currently serves as the PI on two Ohio Department of Medicaid funded projects focused on improving health and reducing health disparities in Medicaid patients, including 1) Cardi-OH, which develops and disseminates best practices related to improving cardiovascular health and diabetes control to primary care practitioners throughout Ohio; and 2) the Northeast Ohio Quality Improvement Hub, which is currently conducting a quality improvement project related to achieving health equity in diabetes care and outcomes.

In addition to leading these health improvement initiatives, Dr. Konstan provides care to patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) and is internationally recognized for his research achievements in CF.
