Summary

The Cardi-OH ECHO QI Cardiovascular Series co-lead, Goutham Rao, MD, FAHA, uses the tenth clinic to describe the strategy of patient empowerment to promote QI efforts and to discuss telemedicine as a tool to engage patients in their own care. He then provides a general description of persuasive design as it applies to patient health technology tools. Dr. Rao then presents a clinical pearl on the low dose aspirin guidelines from USPSTF and the teams review a case study of a fake clinic's desire to use patient empowerment and engagement to encourage patients with hypertension to self-monitor their BP at home.
